Sweden rates second on PA Consulting Group’s Renewable Energy Index

PA Consulting Group ranked Sweden second in the world in its Renewable Energy Index conducted in June 2013.

Sweden scored 143 points and was second to China in the index, which involved an assessment of 30 countries around the world. PA’s Renewable Energy Index ranks countries according to business case, risk assessment and the expected internal rate of return (IRR) for renewable energy investments.

“Thanks to hydro, Sweden generates more than 40% of its electricity from renewable sources. The country continues to offer a relatively stable environment for renewable energy investments and takes second place in PA’s country rankings for renewable energy.”
- Per Blom, PA energy expert

Investment levels in the Swedish energy sector as a whole (generation, transmission and distribution) are expected to reach an all-time high in 2013, with ambitious plans for investments of 300 billion SEK for the period 2009–19.

Gävleborg’s renewable energy investment opportunities include Wind energy, Biogas and Biofuels & Bioenergy.
